The Minerals Council Parliamentary Dinner brings industry leaders and parliamentarians into the same room once a year. The event requires the polish of a gala, the discipline of a parliamentary event, and a program that keeps a powerful audience engaged from first drink to final speech.

Damsel and Sprout delivered the event in the Great Hall at Parliament House, handling theming and centrepiece design through to AV, stage management, and the full set up and pack down.

Bringing the outback into the Great Hall

For a room full of people whose industry lives in the country’s red centre, the theming made a simple, confident statement: bring the landscape to the table.

Centrepieces made of the real thing

Each table was built around raw sandstone, real rock in soft ochres and pinks, set on black mirrored discs with sprays of native eucalyptus and warm candlelight. Using the materials of the industry, straight from the earth, at the centre of every conversation.

A palette pulled from country

Burnt copper and deep red satin cloths, black crushed velvet chair covers, black napkins in copper rings, and matte black cutlery. Rich, warm and unmistakably Australian, with golden dappled light washing across the Great Hall’s coffered ceiling like sun through gum leaves.

A screen that filled the room

The full width of the stage became a canvas, with flowing topographic patterns in sand and ochre carrying sponsor recognition and program content at a scale that matched the venue. Paired with tight stage management and AV production, the program ran sharp from first welcome to final speech.

The invisible work

Full set up and pack down inside a working Parliament House, coordinated around the building’s access windows and security requirements with all team members holding Parliamentary access passes.
