Facing North
Damsel and Sprout were proud to be engaged by the Northern Territory Government to design, produce, and deliver Facing North, a bi-partisan program designed to foster collaboration between the Territory and decision-makers in Canberra.
For the 2023 edition, we worked closely with stakeholders to refresh the program after a four-year hiatus, ensuring the event remained true to its purpose while embracing new formats and approaches. Our team managed every detail, from curating engaging roundtable industry meetings to crafting a vibrant reception and showcase that celebrated the Territory’s unique culture, produce, and opportunities.
The 2023 Facing North event was held in the prestigious Great Hall of Parliament House and featured a full-day forum, an evening reception, and a delegate networking function. More than 200 Territorians travelled to Canberra to take part in the program, with the reception drawing a crowd of 400 guests. The event delivered an unforgettable celebration of the Territory’s innovation, cultural identity, and collaborative spirit. Damsel and Sprout worked closely with stakeholders to design and deliver a sophisticated experience—from curating meaningful program content to coordinating a Territory-inspired menu, served by hospitality staff specially flown in for the occasion. The event was widely praised for its seamless presentation, high-impact delivery, and authentic engagement.
A defining feature of the event was its powerful visual and cultural storytelling. Guests entered over a Parrtjima-inspired projection displayed across the floor, setting the tone for an immersive evening. Live music by Ngulmiya and Nayurryurr provided an evocative soundscape, while models showcased handmade garments by local NT designers, walking among vibrant displays from Territory businesses and community organisations.
Damsel and Sprout were proud to bring this rich tapestry to life, demonstrating how strategic production can elevate storytelling and meaning while supporting economic development and cultural pride.
